2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder with a 2006 2GRFE 3.5L V6 swap.

Start, idle and rev.

Modified (to fit) stock exhaust manifolds, K&N intake, no exhaust.

Using RAV4 ECU, but wiring is for Camry ECU, thus the VVTi is not functional in this video due to sensors wired to the wrong pins. I plan to run the Camry ECU once I register it with a VIN.

Video also shows the ground clearance.

  • where can i purchase this engine?

  • @zavenisgood4u I just searched car-part.com look for a Camry, Rav4, ES350, Avalon, etc. Search your local area, call them up and see who has the most complete set of parts and lowest mileage for the price.

  • This swap is now fully complete. I need to do a video with the exhaust in place. The car made 276 rwhp and 248 ftlb of torque at the wheels.

  • All stock engine, and ECU... Only mods are custom exhaust, modified stock manifolds, K&N intake and lightweight flywheel. The car has all 3 cats fitted.

  • ridiculous! norcal or socal?

  • I'm a Toyota guy, started with a Gen3 Camry then moved into the Lexus SC's but now I'm about to purchase a Mr2 Spyder and definitely getting rid of the 1zz at some point. 2zz and 2gr's go for 3-5k still, I wonder how hard a 1mzfe or similar swap would be, maybe even 2azfe + boost.

  • @zavenisgood4u Look for one online, through a dealership, they can cost up to $15k, no joke. I used to work for North Bakersfield Toyota Scion here in Bakersfield, CA. That's what the dealership pays for a new engine in a new car with issues because we had one Highlander that was defective and they brought it in 3 times. I dunno why they didn't just get a new one because you can do that. I forgot the term for that because I am not a car salesman. I was only a lube tech.

  • Lol i hope that car alarm wasn't from a neighbors car.

  • god product !!
