United Nations, New York, 14 October 2009 - The combination of food and economic crises have pushed the number of hungry people worldwide to historic levels and that sharp spike in hunger triggered by the global economic crisis has hit the poorest people in developing countries hardest.
That's according to a new report release today by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP). The FAO estimates that more than 1 billion people are undernourished in 2009.
