pearl jam isn't TOTALLY full of haole's. the "6th member" is waimanalo-raised keyboard player, boom gaspar, who played on 02's "riot act" and 06's "pearl jam" he still tours with them every year. da bruddah iz recorded the most popular version, but hawaii 78 was written and composed by mickey ioane; with contributions from abe keala, kawika crowley, and cleyton kua. ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono.

@cpacis to have ANY band, singer or otherwise play this song in homage to IZ and the people of Hawai'i is more powerful then you can imagine. His words live on. Thanks to the movie ' 50 First Dates ' I was able to find this great mans music. There is something to be said about a man who's music can touch a soul even after his passing over a decade ago. I feel truly blessed to have heard him, even if only by way of the internet. I can only wish I heard him live back in the day.
