Why did they make shower arms that way, it's stupid. All showerheads come with a built in pivot ball unless they are custom made rain showers that are supposed to thread directly on without a ball. Why on earth make a shower arm where you can't change the head, it's stupid.

@281markvincent Yeah. The ball was indeed welded on. The pipe it's welded to is about 6 inches long, and is attached from within the wall. Just try turning the pipe and eventually it will unscrew. That's what worked in my case.
