Gorgeous scene from a wonderful, under-valued movie.

at 2:32 is that the fella who plays in BOARDWALK empire as the Mob memeber?

The filming is so gentle... It's moving.

I wish we had so much movies about our past in holland, this masterpiece is good enough to be put in a timecapsule.

Isabelle Huppert sturkc mein this movie.. amazing-looking woman, with a very enigmatic type of charisma and unique sexy pout! Never heard of her before, before coming across this movie and never heard of he3r since, but now she turns up in 'The Piano Teacher' 25 years later. So different!

Make somthing painfully slow, very long, add some good cinematography, and you will always find people wanting to label them masterpieces. This movie is up there with English Patient and Cold Mountain. Give me long movies were stuff actually happens like Dances with Wolves and Godfather anyday.

Michael Cimino looks like Jon Lovitz

T-Bone fuckin' Burnett!!

@ColdBishop - uh, this scene is set in the rolling skate rink not the brothel.

The movie looks fantastic from a cinematic perspective, but was painfully slow and boring for me.
The fiddler with the unibrow (he actually composed "Heaven's Gate" score) is CUTE beyond words!!!

@koln1996 And movie never really says what he does hanging around the brothel all the time... hmmmmmmm...

@ColdBishop You have to start from the beginning. He's from Harvard and privileged beyond measure. But instead of marriage for social status, he seeks marriage for love, even in a brothel. The man is an idealist.

@bearmare I'm talking about the fiddler/manservant.

Say what you want about cimino,he cured insomnia with this film.Probably the worst film ever,simply by the fact,nothing even slightly compelling happens.No tension,drama...nothing,there's just NOTHING there!

@TheGatorfan93 Yet one only needs to look a few inches above your comment to see you're wrong.
