This video poem is not only about the flag, it's about freedom. I have wanted to pay tribute to our flag and to the American Soldier for a very long time. I finally did it. I see so much suffering in the work I do. I wanted those whose agony I witnessed to know, I felt their loss and I cared. One thing that remained constant, in all of the catastrophic events I shot, was the American flag. I found her dirty in earthquakes, wet and shredded by hurricanes, torn by tornadoes and disgraced in countless of heart breaking situations. Remember that the right to be free has its cost and there is always someone paying the price, from the teenager who is grounded and must earn his freedom, to the convicted man who is locked in a cell for a crime he did not commit and may never regain his liberty. Most of the time, it's an American Soldier who is footing the freedom bill.

Why did I use the Alamo? I know the Battle of the Alamo was fought way before Texas was a state but I also know it was a conflict for freedom fought by Patriots who knew the value of liberty. They held their ground. I'm an American first, a Texan first too. Long live the Patriots, for without them, there is no Freedom. One more thought, this has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with the country I love.

  • hoo-rah

  • Give peace a chance.Peace remains an elusive dream. The earth is crying out for survival. It is time we responded. Read on and realize that peace is the need of the hour; the only solution. When peace reigns, we will learn to appreciate our planet....

  • Great video, very powerful and emotional.War paralyzes your courage and deadens the spirit of true manhood. It degrades and stupefies with the sense that you are not responsible, that 'tis not yours to think and reason why, but to do and die,' like the hundred thousand others doomed like yourself. War means blind obedience, unthinking stupidity, brutish callousness, wanton destruction, and irresponsible murder..War is selfish death.....

  • Mr Cantu. Please contact radio station KDCD-FM in San Angelo to talk about this video on our morning show.
