Cool, I have never heard of a chicken tractor before! You could rent them out to your neighbours, mow and fertalize at the same time! Makes me want to have chickens again!

how many chicken you got?and, how many you grow?

I love your chicken tractor, my question is, what's the point of having them eat so much grass, bugs, good stuff, if you still feed them half a bucket of feed?

@MyLittleGreenThumb: it is a homemade gravity-fed system, you can get the watering bowl with valve at most farm supply stores. The rest of it was fashioned from a bucket and greenhouse drip-irrigation tubing. The convenient quick disconnect fittings are from Cole-Parmer, a scientific supply company, the male fittings are at part # 0636040 The female fittings are part # 0636020

What breed do you recommend for meat? And where do you get them?

@susansrour hese chickens are a mixed breed called Freedom Rangers from freedomrangershatchery(dot)com in Pennsylvania. They are great chickens and dress out to 5-plus lbs at 10-12 weeks. Not as fast as the Cornish Cross, but better tasting.
