I agree with manuremover1.. nothing natural... why has western pleasure turned into horse looking like they are lame, and with their heads down so low that they kick themselves in the face?

I'm sorry. I know this is very popular but I just do not know how this can be a "pleasure" class when it is so painful to watch. I do not think the judges know how to count as at least half of the horses are doing a 4 beat jog( or a fast walk if you prefer) and if they would move them out more at the lope the horses would not hop and look like they are lame and may even be able to travel some what straight. You are paying your trainers too much. Poor horses. NOTHING natural in the way they move!

@manuremover1
A lope is suppost to look like that. If it was any more forward or faster it would be a canter which is english. It is called western pleasure because it is a class that is judged on how the horse moves. The horses head is so low because that is what qh judges look for. The slower the jog the better. And im pretty sure these people know what they are doing considering this class was congress masters.

@Samelise1098
Thank you, Samelise1098!!!! I agree,the head needs to be in a certain place (lower) to balance out the back end. Seems it would be hard to be collected if a horse has it's head above it's withers. Plus the back would hallow out.

Thank you for posting! You did a great job. I was there and you just can't see all of class. Especially over and over like watching it on video. :))

@tifani3mc You are welcome! I went last year and shot a crummy video and 4,000 people watched it! So this year I thought I'd put a little more effort into it, as I see people are interested. I did the Hunder Under Saddle, too, and hope to have it posted later tonight. Thank you for your comment!
