Question -- Since the Borg have been defeated soundly by the Federation on multiple occasions, shouldn't they change it to "resistances is for the most part futile" _ I mean they are logic processors after all..?

I'm not sure that's quite as imposing. Besides, it's kind of a "sooner or later, we're gonna win! We know it!" thing.

Yes Optimism is best but it is Irrelevant human thought process....

And after The Voyager finale --- I think the Borgs new motto is "We are the Borg, Spare some biological or technological distinctivness man, we haven't assimulated in days"
