That was an alien base if you haven't found out already. Once i was abducted and dropped off there. I tried to hike down but ran out of water and had to turn back. Its cool, the aliens gave me a lift home

LOL, I just hiked this today! A great time.
By the way, do you have any idea what the strange building with the tall white pillar on it was out in the middle of the plateau? We tried going towards it but ran out of water and had to turn back.
