A lot further in the production, i discarded earlier parts and i chose the classic sound of early TK records / Casablanca Records and a sound leaning to Rick James / Hamilton Bohannon / Cerrone and artists of that magnitude..

I feel i can't make a record by compromising.

So.... I flew in a friend of mine Fokke de Groot for some real funky guitar licks, which i edited to make it even more groovy, and double the guitars so it now sounds like 3 guitarists playing at the same time.
Making us both the "Brothers Of Funk".

The footage you see in this video is the recording session of the guitar parts by Fokke.

Synthesizers you hear are Minimoog, Memorymoog, two Jupiter 8 synthesizers, two Juno 60's, 3 Prophet 5's, and a SH101.

All sequencing is ATARI.

Editing is AKAI S1100.

Tape is Studer reel to reel, used to record all acoustic sounds, Guitar parts and soon vocals and horns.
Noise reduction is BURWEN DNF1201, the best sounding single ended noisereduction system on this planet!

This record does NOT suffer from loudness-war dynamics problems, as it is NOT compressed, only limited a bit to prevent tape saturation (the saturation is USED by the way in the analog instrument recordings).

The final cut will be LIVE-CONSOLE-TO-MASTER, so the only master is ANALOG TAPE, which then will be the mastertape for the vinyl pressing, sounding like a million dollars... THE REAL DEAL!

Now YOU get down and shake it up and order your copy in a presale DISCOUNT.

Only $12 excl. P$P for your 12" inch version

This record has the potential to be a collector's item once it's finished, so don't miss it!

  • Is this record available for purchase or download ? I really want it.

  • @gmullin Not yet, i'm having trouble with the arrangement, but indeed it is a great sound.

  • Has this been pressed yet?

  • @snolan1990 No, not yet, i've been in a car crash and recovery and the financial setback force me to work at other things, AND i'm looking for a GOOD singer, preferably african american.

I am a lot further in the production though, i'll post an update soon.

  • Ah! It's a sound that when done well can sound so right! :) :) :)

Love the bit at the end! "Also available on TAPE! Not DIGITAL or CD!" :D

  • My opinion in music production: Never compromise soundwise as if the listener wouldn't hear.

If you produce quality, musiclovers will buy your records.

A stradivarius is a good violin, a computer doesn't do that. Same goes for the great analog synthesizers in this track.

    Thanks for the compliment!

  • this is excellent... I'm 17 and love this sort of sound... can just imagine listening to this on my walkman (cassette, of course)

  • Sorry to hear about your accident.

This is sounding great, combination of the drum machines and synths with the live guitar and percussion is just flat out bad ass. make sure to let us know when it's being pressed because I'm sure I know a couple of people who would be all over this. :)

  • I just love the sound of the DMX :-)

  • very good.analog rules. i too am from montreal, quebec.
