Mugen 1.0 RC5 EX Plus Alpha, to be exact. I don't think the name needed to be that long really.

--------------CHARACTERS--------------
Morrigan Aensland - By Phantom.of.the.Server (PoTs) [ver. date 27.03.09]
Lei-Lei (aka Hsien-Ko) - By Phantom.of.the.Server (PoTs) [ver. date 27.03.09]

--------------STAGES--------------
Sasquatch's stage (Canada) from Vampire Hunter (aka Darkstalkers Renenge) - By BY Jin Kazama

--------------ORIGINS--------------
These two characters and the stage have been ripped from Capcoms 'Vampire' series (aka Darkstalkers)

--------------DESCRIPTION--------------
Oh look at me being all neat, even though I will probably never upload a video to Youtube again. This is just a test for me to see how Youtubes (fairly) new high resolution features work. I'm not quite sure what the difference is between their HQ and HD videos, both those modes seem to be on various videos here. I feel kind of dirty uploading a 148MB video which is only a couple of minutes long, I will see if I can get away with more compression in the future.

After about 7 years, Elecbyte, the developers of Mugen, have finally come back. They've released a version 1.0 of Mugen which has some new features. It can handle high resolution characters and stages (not present in this video, btw). There was a hack for the old version which enabled high resolution, but, well, it's official now. You can also play in widescreen, it's interesting for me to see old stages with a wider playfield, though this does change the gameplay a little; Being able to be further away from your opponent isn't exactly a good thing in 2D fighting games. There's no real point to it apart from running away, which is quite possibly the worst mind game tactic you could do. For anyone who's any good at fighting games, they won't fall for projectiles from the other side of the screen, and they'll know that the opponent will have to come closer eventually, so that they can actually hit you. It's not too bad running away a little if you're winning and the times running out, but it shouldn't be super easy to get away from your opponent all the time. I think Street Fighter IV has a problem with it's widescreen ratio, that combined with other flaws that makes turtlers have the advantage, makes it an irritating game. Waiting around for timer to run out does not make a good game, as you can see, I have some issues with Street Fighter IV :P Anyway, I'm going off-topic, It would be cool if there were true widescreen modes in re-releases of old games like Darkstalkers. Like I said, 4.3 ratio for 2D fighters might work better though, gameplay wise. I have mixed thoughts on the subject.
