Would you shout across the playground "Dick, over here!!" while children were present?
Nothing wrong with that name, nothing wrong with literally getting some exercise by swinging around a pole. But saying it around kids is not really appropriate is it. And this is just a name. Pole dancing is more than that, it's a big part of the sex industry and introducing this to kids is not appropriate. I'm sure there's better ways to exercise, ways that aren't linked to sex so much.

Well of course it's going to be one of the first things most people, especially men, think of.. You ask 100 random people what pole dancing means to them and you'd be lucky to get 10 who say "oh yeah, that's a form of exercise".. It doesn't mean that person is perverted or sick in the head, there's no getting away from the sexual connotations it has.
About your son, yeah, by all means call him Dick but when you're calling his name in the playground, you'd better stick with Richard

Kids are active anyway at that age so why do they think that they should do pole dancing as a form of exercize? When they can run jump skip play hopscotch

its horrible! they cannot be teaching this kind of crap to children so young man. If children see that pole dancing at a young age its going to stick with them and they'll think that its all right. And pluse they only offer it to girls (which says engh on its own) there basicly preparing young girls to grow up to be stripers

Great Video. I've left a video response with my thoughts on why capitalism is always trying to turn our more authentic and intimate experiences into a commodity. Hope you like it... :-)

It is fine u just don't don't have to think of it "that way" think of it as fitness I mean it is a workout

Well part of the pole dancing that is fun is that it is sexy. Is that a bad for kids under the age of 18. You bet, it can lead to all kinds of trouble. However there are those people that look at their life through a straw. If they knew any better they would go after belly dancing too if thats not hip movement i dont know what is and it can be just as sexy. Think of all those little girls in the 20s-30s learning vaudeville that didnt have naughtiness in it;) Pole dancing the new bees knees.

Honestly, I am an army reservist, I have a 3 month old daughter myself and i love pole fitness i did it before and after having her it helped get me back in shape and keeps me that way, it is not sexual I wear a normal workout top and shorts while doing it no "stripper clothing or shoes" about the whole thing, if my daughter were to see me working out and wanted to spin around the pole she could have at it, I encourage her to workout however she chooses. It honestly isn't sexual, just fitness.
Whoever thinks pole dancing is inappropriate for an exercise is a pervert himself to think like that. If the first thought that comes into you mind is strippers and sex when you hear pole then you`re sick in the head!
So i shouldn`t name my son Dick is what you`re saying.

@Ometopada No, you probably shouldn't because kids will make fun of him mercilessly. My real name got terribly teased and caused me a lot of problems, and it's not sexual at all.

Pole dancing for kids... not too far. not perfectly fine. It's a fantastic dare from the particular studio and I encourage them all the way.You have a problem with it, because you associate... you understand all that you said *intellectually*,but you still associate. And the kids... The kids are fine! Until some aunt or uncle comes along to say, baby, maybe you shouldn' t do that. But why, I love it? Well, baby, you wouldn't understand yet,but there are people like me,who' d think that you are...

@VikiSil Yes, I associate pole dancing with exotic dancing because that is where it originated. I don't think it's appropriate for children. If it is asexual, I wonder if they would allow boys to be in the class as well? The parents' and children's opinions are not the only ones to consider when it comes to their activities. Unfortunately, there are a lot of nefarious people out there. To me, this seems like an invitation for trouble. It's fully up to the parents to decide though
