Oh crap and when your playing the E major I understand the inversions with it but after you start playing a chord up farther and farther up the fretboard, are you playing the inversions or the E major in its different positions? Sorry man but I'm trying to learn this stuff and I get confused easily. Thanks!

Only video on Youtube that helped me with inversions, all your videos are sick. My only questions are, can you only play the inversions on the first 4 strings? And how many different positions can you play in a key, I can only seem to find 1 in the first 12 frets. Thanks!

i understand the concept of this. But is this a crucial concept to grasp for songwriting or is it just like a memorization tool to better understand fretboard and diatonic theory and all that jazz?
