Family Trip to Beaufort, NC (June 1961)

Mike (1917-1980) and Agnes (1920-2010) Ruiz from Camden, NJ, take their three children Sonny (Michael), Denny, and Kenny on a family trip to visit the Moores in Beaufort, NC. Uncle Mike Fedak (brother of Agnes and WWII Vet) accompanies the family. My dad was in the US Coast Guard during World War II, stationed in NC, and he became very close to the Moore family. The Moore's had a grocery store in those days and you will see footage of Moore's Grocery in this movie. You will also see the Inlet Inn and some of the Beaufort area such as Main Street.

Posted August 27, 2011 morning as Hurricane Irene takes aim at Beaufort, NC today. Best wishes to the folks of Beaufort including Nina Moore Jarman and Carol Sell, whose son graduated as a physics major from UNC Asheville, where I teach.
