Speaking out against new guidelines, issued by the Obama Administration, that would, for the first time, establish limited rights for non-American designated terrorist entities detained on foreign battlefields and held at the Bagram Theater Internment Facility (BTIF) in Afghanistan.
Taking such action before the Supreme Court has ruled on this issue would jeopardize the safety of our soldiers in Afghanistan and the security of the United States.
This new policy could lead to the release of terrorists who will return to the battlefield and kill American servicemen. In addition, the policy could hold several dangerous unintended consequences, including a new requirement to read Miranda-type warnings to the Taliban when captured and new restrictions on operational rules of engagement.
In effect, the Administrations new policy could chill the ability of Americans to gain valuable tactical intelligence when the Taliban are at their weakest i.e. just after surrender.
