Merry Christmas!

This was originally going to be just my nutcrackers, but last minute I decided to include our tree, some other decorations, and dad's collection of Santas.

This year's nutcrackers are the Marine in the last photo and the Russian in the first two nutcracker shots.

Every year for my birthday my parents get me at least one nutcracker. Some years, like this year, there are two or more. A friend of mine sent the two large ones about two years ago and they stand year round in front of our fireplace. The two flanking the Russian in the first nutcracker shot were both hand painted by me. There were two others next to them that have not been painted yet.

But that's one of our holiday traditions. It isn't really Christmas around here without the nutcrackers. And in 29 years... we've only lost one nutcracker. I still have him, but he's unable to stand anymore due to his feet coming apart from his legs. He needs some serious surgery to ever stand again.

The music is from The Nutcracker Suite. I hope you enjoy!

Merry Christmas, and may 2009 be the best year yet!

  • do you know any place i can get cheap large nutcrackers? (and by large, I mean massive. Like 3-4 ft tall? and I don't really want to go over $100...

  • Honestly, I'd check out places like Target and Walmart. Every so often you can luck out. Otherwise, the only suggestion I'd have would be to get them after Christmas, or very close to Christmas, from Christmas only shops. They deep discount nutcrackers very close to and after Christmas, because the nutcrackers from this year won't be available again next year, so they clear stock to make room.

  • Wow, you really do have lots of Nutcrackers and they all seem to be in really good shape. Some of mine have lost a foot or a nose.. LOL Love them all and the Santas and other decorations are really nice too! Merry Christmas to you and your family!! xo Judy

  • Thank you! Eventually I am going to buy a curio cabinet for them so they can remain on display year round.

  • What a great collection!

    My favourite...the pirate!

  • Mom's, too! LOL! I've got two of them, a year apart. Mom was a little beside herself when she realized I had two of them, but hey. I like them!
