Seven years ago one of our students had the bright idea of putting together a science festival for Lynchburg-area grade-school kids: that idea has now grown into an annual April event at Randolph College that includes Science Day Saturday for third through sixth graders, a science festival on Sunday that's open to students of all ages, and even a science-themed poetry reading.
Randolph College Physics Professor Peter Sheldon organizes the event, but professors from various disciplines across the sciences all get involved, along with a large group of student volunteers, in leading young, aspiring scientists through a wide range of interactive activities that are meant to be both fun and educational.
I did neglect to mention when I was trying to remember all the great events on the fly that the PSYCHOLOGY CLUB was also doing a hands-on demonstration activity with perception. VERY COOL!
