Dead Stop Practice L4D2

To set up your own dead stop training follow these instructions:

Bring up the developers console using the ~ key at the Left 4 Dead 2 main menu (if the console is disabled, enable it at the main menu by choosing options - keyboard/mouse - Allow developer console. Select "enabled."

With the console up at the main menu, select your choice of map by typing map (space) into the console.

Scroll through the list and select your preference. I have chosen map c1m2_streets. Press enter and the map will load locally.
Once we're in game, we need to turn on cheats. bring up the console and type "SV_Cheats 1." Turning on cheats give you the ability to toggle many of the functions in game.

We don't want the bots stealing our kills, so while still in the saferoom bring up the console once more.

If you are playing as Coach, type into the console: "kick ellis" (enter), "kick rochelle" (enter), "kick nick" (enter).

We also don't want hordes rushing at us as we practice hunter dead stops (with more experience as a dead stopper, you may in fact want hordes to rush you while you try to fend off hunters.) To eliminate the common, we're going to need to tell the AI Director to stop spawning hordes. There are a few ways to do this. The easiest way is to bring up the console and type "z_common_limit 0"

We'll also want to turn off all other special infected. To do this, type "director_no_specials 1"

At this point, you can leave the saferoom. There may be a few residual common, and less likely, SI. If that is the case, dispatch them before continuing.

Now, we need to bind 2 commands to keys of your choice. To spawn a hunter, the command is "Z_Spawn Hunter" To kick a hunter the command is "Kick Hunter"

Bind these commands to keys of your choice so you don't have to bring up the console and type the commands in every time. To do this, bring up the console and type 'Bind "K" "Z_Spawn Hunter.' (enter) 'Bind "L" "Kick Hunter."

Now, every time you press "K", a hunter will appear where your cross hairs are pointing, and every time you press "L", the hunter will disappear.

Practice your dead stops, and if you do get pounced, press L immediately. The Kick Hunter command will not work if you are taking damage over time from a hunter.

If you want to restart, just type "kill" into the console.

And if u type "director_stop" NO zombies will spawn then you type "nb_delete_all" to delete your allies and the rest of the zombies!

Z_Spawn hunter (or smoker, charger, tank, etc.) is the command to spawn SI.

Good point about the alternate commands. Director_stop is sketchy though; It can sometimes produce undesired effects...

you know... there is a timing difference between you local hosting and messing around and actaully in game latency.....

@nihilist809 Latency between server and client is measured in milliseconds... Assuming you have a decent ping and a good gaming rig, then then results of your hunter practice on local vs. an official server would be negligible.

i cant make the bots advange if im on the zombie team, they wont get out of the safe room :( i remember they did year back but now they wont

@JKapertheoriginal I disagree. Depending on your server you can get 10 ping or even 100 these days. being able to change latency is very useful. Try this net_fakelag 50. This should give you about 100 ping.

sometimes i can deadstop a hunter but i can fail too. And now after watching ur video, i know the time correct time! The problem is timing! thx btw

it is useless to deadstop bot hunters. your ping is 0 so hitboxes are completly diffrent from a real vs match.

Skitting bot hunters isnt even as near as difficult as skitting player controled hunters.
