I do it for fun, but getting paid for it allows me to have even more fun, and just as important, continue to get better. You are born with the desire, not the talent. That takes practice, even if you are Mozart. Of course he was a hell of a lot better than me ;-)

Sorry, I never answered this. I'm in drop D as well. I use it a lot for any song in the key of D as it allows my to drone away on that bottom string a lot

I see what these people mean about having a too polished voice. You are great musician, no doubt about it, you have an AMAZING voice and guitar playing, no one, especially me, is bashing that. It's just that this song simply had a rough feel to it from Steve Earle and it's different to hear it this way.
