Women's Smoke Dance National Pow Wow

This is footage from the women's smoke dance competitiion at the National Pow Wow in Washington D.C. 8/11/07 I am the female in the light purple regalia with long pony tail & feather fan. The camera pretty much follows me around (my bro was recording) so it shouldn't be hard to spot me ;) ENJOY!!!!

beautiful dancing, though i've never seen smoke dancing out here on the west coast (from washington to california), i'm guessing this must be only on the east-coast powwow from eastern tribes, i don't think they generally do these smoke dances out here, but then again they probably don't get some of our traditional dancers from the west coast in some of your powwows back east either.

@metta108 There were people from tribes from all over the country and from Canada, but smoke dancing is an Iroquois dance. ;-)

@mimi9591 This was the first time I'd gone to the National Pow Wow. They've only been doing it for a few years. But haven't had one since then.

@Papillonmuscogee They normally have them every two years, but unfortunately didn't have one last year and I've heard they won't have it this year either. Kinda sucks.

Im sorry i go to alotta powwows here in the west and never really saw this dance. its raelly amazing and i love it.

@metta108 im also an iroquois boy that lives in vancouver (west coast ) but i would love to see the iroquois tradtonal smoke dance and other dances shared/introduced to the west coast
