BEEBANI TEAM WINS Dr.ALI CRICKET TOURNAMENT

This cricket tournament was the first ever in the history of King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah. It was played between four teams.
1.Beebani cricket team of Jamia
2. Azizia cricket club
3. Evergreen team
4. Khalid Eleven
The teams were divided in two groups. Group A had evergreen and Azizia cricket team whereas the other B group had Beebani cricket team and the Khalid Eleven. First there were qualifying matches held between Evergreeen and Azizia cricket club.Azizia cricket club scored a mountainous score of 156 in allotted ten overs. Their openers Osman and Ijaz lifted more than a dozen balls up and away from the boundary for sixes. Evergreen finished at 129 and had to leave the arena. Next match was played between Beebani cricket team and Khalid eleven. Khalid eleven won the toss and elected to bat and in the first over of Dr. Beebani hit 22 runs. Babar in the next over gave 18 and Fazal Qudoos 20. But thereafter Babr bowled well and removed the openers. It was in the ending overs that Amir bowled two superb overs giving just 2+5=7 runs. Shahnawaz also bowled well. amazingly Khalid Eleven was contained to 109 runs. In return Beebani team replied very strongly with Shahnawaz hitting 8 sixes and 4 fours to end the required score sparing two overs.
Final match was a real thriller. It was a 20-20 match. Beebani team opted to bat first after winning the toss. Unfortunately Anjum got caught at deep mid on after just hitting a six. Osman the other opener scored 35 precious runs but it was Junaid Sabir the ultimate man of the match who scored swifty 73 runs. His total included 5 sixes and a four in a single over of Danish. Still the team was railing on the wall with 9 wickets down at the last ball of 18th over and score of 186 only. It was here that the skipper Dr. Beebani walked in and hit a huge six on the leg side. He also hit three fours more.Team finished 20 overs at 217 a handy score. In return Azizia cricket club started well but Babar once again removed the openers and gave almost nothing in his four overs. Fazal Qudoos was simply unplayable in his second spell. in the last four overs Azizia cricket club needed mere 27 runs. It was the duo of Junaid and Fazal Qudoos who tightened the noose and bowled the best they could. They knew that the coveted trophy and the gold medals were slipping from their hands. On the other hand Irfan the batsman of Azizia cricket team who sent many balls away for six calmed down and silently gave his wicket. Junaid and Fazal packed the Azizia team with nine runs behind. Big trophy and the gold medals were given to the members of the Beebani cricket team and trophy went with the skipper.
