This video shows how to produce both the FRONT (brick-like vertical pattern) and the REVERSE (zig-zag trellis pattern) sides of the stitch, using exactly the same stitch formation for each, working from a central horizontal foundation row of reversed chain stitch. The reverse zig-zag side is demonstrated first. The thread I'm using is 'S' twist, Coats, 'Eldorado'. The stitch looks best of all worked in 'S' twist silk. Happy stitching!

  • VERY GOOD explaination! thanks 4sharing. BUT, it's too bad the video keeps stopping every few seconds. VERY FRUSTRATING.

  • @BlessedDove Thanks Blessed. Glad you found it comprehensive. I know what you mean about the interruptions with the flow of the film, especially as i used to have that problem with most of the videos on here. I think you will find the problem is actually with the bandwidth allowance on your internet connection. Because people are now viewing entire films over the internet etc, what was a fast connection is now probably quite slow. Personally I've moved over to Fibre Optics :)

  • Hey thank you! This is a very nice stitch indeed. You can do so many things with it: birds faces, feathers, flower centres, petals, sepals etc. It was so funny, the other day I momentarily forgot how to do it and had to look at the video again briefly - lol!

Basically the needle goes in away from you, and then gets pulled down towards you.

All the best to you !

  • Lovely video demos! Clear, easy to follow. Excellent job. What is the thread that you are using? Also, do you ever work on a slate frame instead of a hoop? I'd love to see more from you! Thanks for this.

  • Thanks very much for your comment, I appreciate it. I do plan to make more videos very soon.

I'm going to be doing Brussels stitch next, which is a back and forth detached buttonhole with no return row - please see my channel page to read further about that one. After that I plan to do Up and Down buttonhole.

I think your costume is amazing btw!

    Thanks again
