November 9, 2010 - The Ledig House in Omi, NY, is home to one of the nation's only International Writers Residencies. Every year, two dozen critically acclaimed writers and translators from around the world stay at the Ledig House, where they can work on their individual projects while learning from fellow writers. It's also a good opportunity for these writers to share their works with American readers. This event highlights four writers in residence at the Ledig House: Susana García Iglesias, novelist from Mexico; Tom Burke, author and Program Manager of the Chinua Achebe Center for African Writers and Artists at Bard College; Nir Baram, novelist and editor from Israel; and Perihan Mağden, novelist from Turkey. All four read from and discuss their work.
(This event is hosted by Open Letter and University of Rochester Arts & Sciences. It is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York State Council on the Arts.)
