Basically this song is about nsome Canadians that joined the Army and fought in Viet-Nam and was still denied American citensonship. I may be wrong, but I think thats what it boiled down to.

Whenever the Lenny Kravitz version of this song comes on the radio, I IMMEDIATELY change the station. It sucks SO BAD when compared to the original. Come to think of it, does Kravitz even have any original material?

@SimXLive hiii :D
yeah. i think the best music is that one were you can find your ideas on it. No mater what you think, you feel represented by that song. Regarding "american woman" by guess who, i wouldnt care if its "anti-american" because the most important of all, is that that song is free to be played, wrote, etc. Thats themost important thing, the freedom to say what ever you want, so, i would look at that song only as a exercise of freedom.
sorry for my english lol !!!!! :)

@TheAmericanFreeBird Your right, and as a Canadian this is new to me. But I looked it up and there it is, just like you said. thanks for clearing up a 40 year old misconception on my part. I think most Canadians get it wrong, since we all want to believe that the Guess Who felt the same as we did in that time (Vietnam, Nixon, etc) and that the song is anti American, but it's just a song isn't it?

American woman is NOT the statue of liberty. How on earth would a 300ft woman come knocking at your door? It's about the USA in general, viewed by Canada
