I love her and I love this remix!
Kylie Ann Minogue, OBE, (born 28 May 1968), is an Australian pop singer-songwriter and occasional actress. She rose to prominence in the late 1980s through her role in the Australian television soap opera Neighbours, before commencing her career as a recording artist in 1987.
Signed to a contract by English songwriters and producers Stock, Aitken & Waterman in 1987, she achieved a string of hit records throughout the world. Her popularity waned during the early 1990s, leading her to part company from Stock, Aitken & Waterman in 1992. During the mid to late 1990s, Minogue distanced herself from her earlier work and attempted to establish herself as a credible and independent performer and songwriter. Her projects were widely publicised, but her albums failed to attract a substantial audience and resulted in the lowest sales of her career at the time. She returned to popularity as a pop artist in 2000, and became well-known for her elaborate music videos and expensively mounted stage shows. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, Minogue returned to performing and recording in late 2006 after a period of convalescence.
Although she was dismissed by some critics during her early career, she has achieved longevity as a pop music artist. She has sold in excess of 60 million records, and has achieved her greatest successes in Australia, Europe, Asia and Latin America. She was awarded an OBE in 2008 for services to music.
"Your Disco Needs You" is a Disco song written by Australian singer Kylie Minogue, Guy Chambers and Robbie Williams for Minogue's seventh album Light Years (2000). It was produced by Chambers and Steve Power. The background vocals are by Tracy Ackerman and Robbie Williams.
The song was released as the fifth single in the beginning of 2001 (see 2001 in music) in select territories and was a top twenty hit in Australia, peaking at number twenty.
The release of the song outside the UK angered many of Minogue's fans and sparked protests outside her UK record company from fans lobbying for its release. When considering the fourth single to be released from Light Years, Minogue's record label chose the Latin sounding "Please Stay" instead of the fan favourite "Your Disco Needs You", due to the song's campness and to avoid Minogue being further stereotyped.
Although the song did not have the same chart performance as many of Minogue's previous and later singles, it became a classic performance piece and also a club hit in Europe including the United Kingdom and Eastern/Baltic European states. In March 2008, SameSame.com.au listed the song at number five in "The 50 Gayest Songs Of All Time".
Minogue included the song on the set list of her 2001 On A Night Like This Tour, 2005's Showgirl: The Greatest Hits Tour and added the song to the 10 May 2008 performance in Frankfurt on her KYLIEX2008 tour where it remained for the remainder of the tour.
Enjoy!
