Lucy Farr's Barndance is a charmingly simple tune; it doesn't take many notes to be catchy and engaging. My last couple of "hornpipe" posts have been at least borderline barndances - a slightly different feel to the tune, to go with a different dance. I would say that this one is definitely a barndance, except that fans of other forms of dance like to point out that in fact it's closely related to a older 7-step polka. I won't argue, I'll just play the tune. I was reminded of this tune by my fellow concertina player Chris Stevens, who recently recorded a great version with his band "The Press Gang" (look them up!)
This is the 26th installment in my home-recording project, posting a hornpipe every week, more or less. (sometimes it's the regularity that's iffy - in this case I guess it might be the "hornpipe" label...) Thanks for listening!
Brilliantly happy sounding, do you play from music.
