This is a portion of a discussion concerning how great the Moog Minimoog is. Basically a very small demonstration of a fraction of the sounds and capabilities of the Moog Minimoog... perhaps the most beautiful, beautiful sounding, and functional synthesizer ever produced.

Honestly just seems like another thing from the past that was incredible and innovative at its time but now is a highly praised pseud's momento. Modern softsynths can do so much more, that I can't quite understand what all the fuss with analogue synths are like. Maybe I haven't heard enough synths to differentiate enough, I just don't see the benefits (other than nice twisty knobs, but that's what va synths are for) of such expensive gear.

The gear isn't "expensive." It is "sought." People want it due to hype... but they're just mimicking the people who want it due to tone. If you can't tell the difference, count yourself lucky, and be happy with your powerful softsynths!

I'm sorry, Damanik... but even 6 years ago, when I made this demo, I thought I'd demonstrate what the basics of the synth sounded like so that you could decide whether you wanted to buy it. I trusted in you that you would come up with creative applications for the basic aspects I demonstrated, and that you wouldn't NEED me to feed you imagination. But, luckily... I also made a demo called "Sounds of the Moog Minimoog," which does that. :)

I'm wondering why this particular video has attracted so many nub-cakes as evidenced in the comments. I fell in love with the minimoog when I heard a trumpet lead patch in a video which was removed a year or so ago. It sounded so epic and amazing. I want to get a Voyager someday. And an Oberheim 2 voice :P A man can dream. Do you have a deviated septum by chance?

Nice twisty knobs is enough of the reason to get a real synthesizer. Casio calculator watch can do so much more than simple Rolex, and yet ask what most people would prefer to spend most of the day with. It's a matter of taste, style, and dedication too it.
