@AskK2nyc, thanks for your reply, you are right on the mark, this is the best way of dealing with this situation. I've left that workplace now, but definitely learned some important lessons, pretty much what you summed up, not giving any reaction, the importance of detachment and not taking it personally are all so crucial.

Sorry, I did this and it did not work at all. I approached this the right way, bought the coffee, explained how it was making me feel and wanted to get 'her thoughts' blah blah blah, I did everything the right way, being open, friendly. Sadly, she just reverted back to her old ways and got even worse, because this confrontation had made it hard for her to keep putting me down in order to feel better about herself, which was her main aim. It doesn't work with people like this, she's a bully.

@jtking2504 Thanks so much for your comment. So sorry that your coworker responded by becoming more aggressive towards you. Bullies have a way of getting under your skin, so the next step would be to take extra measures to detach from her behavior. This means working out (purging the toxins through exercise), spending time with people who believe in you, and finding ways NOT to take her behavior personally. The less you react to a bully, the less appealing you are as a target.
