Melnet (http://melodeon.net) tune of the month December 2010.
I paired it up with the Spanish Jig because I like the tune, though I don't usually play the two as a set.

  • Good tunes Anahata! I'm curious about the second, mostly because of the name, what kind of music is it? do you know why it is called Spanish Jig?

  • @chirritutiplen It's in the Winder Manuscript. I don't know how it got its name.

The Winder Family were village musicians in Wyresdale, Lancashire in the 19th Century, and left several handwritten manuscripts full of good tunes, whose contents have survived to the present day.

  • An English country dance tune from Playford's Dancing Master

The tune was already published in 1695 by Playford.

  • Wonderful music!

  • @anahatamelodeon Thank you Anahata! It didn't sound Spanish Music to me, but I wanted to check that. It is nice that you are playing these tunes from these old manuscripts, they are coming to life again!
