The Southeast of Saline, USD 306, high school Leadership Class from Gypsum participated in the 2009 Kansas Distance Learning Week. Students worked with their instructor Juanelle Garretson, Trane of Kansas City, and the Kansas Association for Interactive Distance Education (KAIDE) to broadcast a one hour class about energy efficiency to Kansas Schools via Distance Learning technology. The students developed the lesson plan and designed the class to be very interactive and entertaining. They conducted three experiments to demonstrate energy efficiency. Whats My Wattage compared incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. Brrr, Its Cold compared various insulators. Checking for Drafts demonstrated the importance of eliminating drafts. In this clip, three foreign exchange students talk about the energy usage and consumption differences between their home country and the United States.
