@SuperChooie Oh. Well, I just assumed because in variety shows (1n2d for ex. lol) they throw the term "uljjang" around easily. Not like...you must be certified, etc. But yea, I understand. Ty.

@joenjwang lol...."official" ulzzangs are actually voted in korea, usually through the web. they get famous by looking beautiful on the internet ie. they dont need to have any other talent. If you look pretty and say "oh wow you are an ulzzang" it means you are pretty but it's a joke....its like saying "oh wow you are a celebrity now"..you aren't really a celebrity, they are just making a reference to describe appearance. Typical people dont call themselves ulzzang just to describe their looks.

Ulzzang = somone FAMOUS FOR BEING PRETTY. Not just anyone that is pretty. Kim Tae Hee is NOT an Ulzzang, even though, yes, she does have a pretty face. She is famous for being an actress, not just famous for being attractive.

@joenjwang nobody calls kim tae hee ulzzang in korea, -,- she's yeonyein. Yes, ulzzang means someone with good looking face but it sounds awkward for us to say kim tae hee or lee young ae is ulzzang. They are just celebritries. Even the ones that was once called "ulzzang" and became celebrities, we say that she used to be ulzzang or, "ulzzang chul-shin yeonyein" but we don't call them ulzzang, really. the best example would be goo hye sun and park han byeol.

Actually, no. A lot of celebrities are called ulzzangs too. Like, Kim Tae Hee. It just means someone with a pretty face. Once you start putting criteria on it, then it should be called something else..

@joenjwang Also, it's only commoner who's considered to be uljjang. celebrity being good looking is not special so people don't refer celebrities as uljjang. However, few uljjang become celebrity later although it is not a common case.
