-The Next Day-
Nick: *Walks in first period, early; Walks up to Joe; Smiles. * Hey.
Joe: *Grading papers; Looks up; Looks exhausted. * Hi.
Nick: My God, what happened to you?
Joe: Nothing... I just um.. Couldn't sleep. *Grabs a paper off his desk; Hands it to him. *
Nick: What is this? *Looks at it. * A new schedule? I didn't request one...
Joe: I made the request... *Can't look him in the eye. *
Nick: *Hurt. * Why.. Why would you make a request to have me changed?
Joe: We can't be doing this Nick. I'm a teacher. And... *Swallows the lump in his throat; Trying hard not to cry. * And I think you'd be happier with someone else. Someone you wouldn't have to hide with.
Nick: But... *Tearing up. * I thought.. I thought you liked me...
Joe: *Finally looks up; Tears spill over. * I do... A lot... But I have no choice but to let you go.
Nick: You do have a choice, Joe! *Tears fall. * You had the choice to fight for me, for us. Why are you just giving up?!
Joe: You don't understand-
Nick: No, I do understand. I understand that you were just using me. *Tears fall harder. * You made me believe that we had something special. But I was nothing but a pawn in your stupid game! Well you know what, I don't care anymore! You can go to hell! *Runs out; Crying. *
Joe: *Puts his face in his hands; Tears falling; Thinks: He doesn't understand... *
-Later-
Nick: *Sitting at lunch with Miley, Selena, and Demi; Depressed. *
Miley: Nicky... Please talk to us. What's the matter?
Nick: *Sighs. * I was kind of seeing a guy... And he pretty much just used me the entire time, and he made me believe we had something special. Happy?
Demi: Aw, Nicky, I am so sorry. *Hugs him from the side. *
Nick: Thanks...
Miley: Well, ya know Nick, the best way to get over someone is to find someone else.
Nick: Like anyone would want me...
Miley: I think that guy does. *Points to a cute guy starring at Nick. *
Nick: *Looks back; Sees him; Thinks: Damn, he is cute.; Turns back. * Maybe he's starring into space?
Selena: Wouln't be too sure about that. Cause he's coming here right now. *Smiles. *
??: *Walks next to Nick. * Hi. *Smiles. *
Nick: *Looks up a little. * Hi...
??: I'm Liam. *Smiles; Checking him out. *
Nick: *Smiles a little. * Nick. *Blushing. *
Liam: I'm sorry for starring, but I couldn't help myself. You're gorgeous.
Nick: *Blushes deeper. * T-Thanks...
BELL RINGS
Liam: I'll see you around. *Winks; Walks away. *
Selena: Oh My GOD. He's sexy!
Demi+Miley: *Laugh. *
Miley: And you thought he didn't like you. Now that guy will regret letting you go.
Nick: *Face falls; Thinks of Joe; Looks down. * Doubt it... *Gets up; Starts walking with them to class. *
Joe: *Standing at the other end of the cafeteria; Watched the whole thing; Insides are torn up; Walks to his classroom. *
-The next day-
Nick: *Walking with Miley to her first period; Passing by Joe's room; Glances inside; Sees a different teacher there; Stops walking. * Where's Jo- I mean Mr. Jonas?
Miley: Oh no, he's absent? He's my favorite teacher! *Walks in the class with Nick. *
Nick: *Taps the teacher's shoulder. * Excuse me?
Mr. Styles: Yes?
Nick: Where's Mr. Jonas?
Mr. Styles: I believe he's leaving to Italy for 2 weeks for his wedding.
Miley: He was engaged?
Nick: *Heart shatters; Feels his throat close up. *
Mr. Styles: Apparently.
Nick: *Turns and walks out. *
Miley: Nick?! Where are you going?!
Nick: *Runs off; Grabs his bike; Rides to Joe's house; Storms up to the front; Tears falling; Pounds on the door. *
Chelsea: *Opens the door. * Nick, you-
Nick: Where is he?! *Pushes past her; Walks in the house. * JOE!
Chelsea: He's not here.
Nick: *Face her. * Then where is he?!
Chelsea: Probably flying over Tennessee right now.
Nick: He already left...?
Chelsea: Yes, and I was going to meet him there. *Crosses her arms over her chest. *
Nick: Why didn't he tell me he was engaged?
Chelsea: It wasn't exactly planned.
Nick: Still!
Chelsea: Look, he was forced to marry this bitch Ashley so he could save you!
Nick: Save me...?
Chelsea: *Sighs; Rolls her eyes. * When Alec came, he told Joe he had to marry his sister. Joe refused, but when they figured out that he had feelings for you, they threatened to kill you if he didn't marry Ashley. Hence, the saving.
Nick: Oh my God... I'm such an idiot! *Hits the wall. *
Chelsea: Ya think?
Nick: I have to go with you to Italy.
Chelsea: Excuse me?
Nick: Take me with you. Please.
Chelsea: The plane is full Nick. There aren't any tickets.
Nick: There has to be away I can sneak on the plane... Can't you do something?
Chelsea: No... *Smirks. * But I know someone who can.
