From the 1969 album SATURN RINGS by Michele O'Malley...written by Bobby Jameson...Produced by Mike Deasy...Vocal Arrangement by Curt Boettcher...In 1969 Michele O'Malley, founding member of the Ballroom as well as their lead vocalist on songs like "It's a Sad World" and "Lead Me to Love", secured a solo recording contract with ABC records. Since the late 1966 Ballroom sessions, Michele had kept busy as a session vocalist, as well as through her involvement with the Subud faith. In 1967 she co-wrote "Song to the Magic Frog (Will You Ever Know)" and "You Know I've Found a Way", two of the highlights on Sagittarius' classic PRESENT TENSE album. By 1969, it was Michele's turn to get her share of the spotlight, and the man she turned to in hopes of rock superstardom was the author of "Lead Me to Love", session guitarist extraordinaire Mike Deasy.

Deasy would produce Michele's debut LP, surrounding her with a stellar cast of backing musicians including former Mothers Of Invention Lowell George and Elliot Ingber. George, who would go on to form the much loved Little Feat, is responsible for a great deal of this album's charm via his stellar flute playing. Another L.A. session stalwart, Mike Melvoin (father of future Prince collaborator Wendy Melvoin, as well as the late Smashing Pumpkins keyboardist Jonathan Melvoin) was responsible for the arrangements and no doubt contributed instrumentally to the record as well.

yea in the meantrime i checked it and i saw that is there! i think i'll buy it too :)

the amazon cd catalog is much better than the itunes one! ...in itunes there's not a lot of what i look for

i always look for strange ,obscure things from 60's-70's-and 80s not only folk and psych but also other genres including new wave, synth pop and punk

  • @doktahworm this song was written by BOBBY JAMESON. a true enigma of 60s LA culture. this album is a slice of that time & place

  • 100000 tahnks for posting those obscure, and forgotten gems!!

  • @doktahworm have you ever heard the song "lead me to love"? her voice is far from poor. but to each his own i guess.

  • @doktahworm these arent bad at all. clearly you dont know millenium, ballroom, sagittarius, all bands that michele was in. and those bands werent given record deals because they had a vagina in the band. thats dumb to think. its not like people in the sixties all the sudden couldnt hear right if a female was playing the music. she was good, and ballroom (along with the other bands she took part in) was amazing as well

  • An absolute beautiful album with some psych touches here and there. Very mellow and melodic in some places. It's a great album from the late 60's. Michele has a very beautiful voice.
