the beatles - here comes the sun
super 8 film shot with my vintage Canon 310xl which i purchased for 29 dollars from ebay ;)
to properly expose Ektachrome 64T i used an external 85B filter and put the switch into the tungsten position.this camera works great for what it's worth but it's a bit hard to focus.

  • @@xxxaphrodite6xxx Ooh, also!... did you adjust the auto exposure level at all, to compensate for the filter being on there? Or did you just shoot as normal? Thanks!

  • @muzboz i just had to lift a red switch that the 310xl has into the up position.

  • @xxxaphrodite6xxx Really nice footage! I've got a Canon 814XL Electronic, and a bunch of 64t, and I'm about to start shooting. I've bought a variety of filters, including a 85A, 85B, 85C.

So you think it's best to shoot with the 85B, with the camera set to Tungsten? The colors in yours are certainly pretty sweet! I was even considering using an 85B AND an 85C or something, to go a bit more brown! Might be going overboard, though. :) Or shooting with the camera on Daylight with an 85C?

  • @muzboz thanks! i haven't tried to shoot with any filter other than the 85B.i am a fan of warm colors and that's what i achieved by using the 85B.i also tried to shoot with no filter at all but the colors looked almost bluish.310xl is not supposed to work with 64T thats why i had to set the lever into tungsten.you can try different things during your camera tests and see what works for your camera better plus u can always do color correction during the telecine

  • @xxxaphrodite6xxx Thanks! Do you expose on the normal auto exposure setting? Or do you set it to go a bit over or under exposure?

I did hear about those certain films that don't have the correct notch cut out, and so they purposely deactivate the tungsten/daylight switch. Strange that they ever did that! Great to know about though, to avoid blue films! :-)

I think that new 100D daylight film looks really boring, in terms of colors. 64t seems much nicer! :)

  • @muzboz yes i set it on normal and let the autoexposure do its work.i know though that the 814 has both auto and manual exposure unlike the 310. Also i had to ensure that only 1 asa film speed detection pin is engaged cause 310 reads 64T as 160 ASA tungsten due to the notches placement.

  • I'm producing a commercial for a holiday advertiser, which we are editing all this week, there is a chance that we would like to use a small clip from your video -"sunshine" written in the sand. I would need your permission, please let me know.

  • @xxxaphrodite6xxx Epic. You're a Super 8 Super Star. :-P They're not exactly "point and shoot", are they!?? Haha! Well, I guess they are, once you trick it to have one pin down, and put a filter on it to get the color temperature right!

  • very nice video : )

  • I love this video, well done ;)
