Gautama Buddha was born in an area now governed by the state of Nepal. India (and Nepal) did not exist 2550 years ago.

@athen22 Yes. Thank you.

That is patently false. The very story of Buddha involves being blessed by gods, teaching gods, and being tempted by the Devil King himself. Brahma and Indra are the Buddha's attendants.
You are speaking only of Buddhist psychology which states God is an emanation of the mind, but Buddha NEVER said there was no God. Please name such a sutra, I doubt you can. Please do not spread falsihood. While we do not worship the Buddha, we do take refuge in the Buddha as one of the "three jewels.

Good grief, what on earth does it matter where the Lord Buddha was born? If we can't learn and gain something from the philosophy He taught, what's the point in raising a ruckus over the place of His birth?

Buddha is not the founder of buddhism but an expouder of the universal law. The law that long exist but forgotten by many of the sentient beings through aeons of rebirth. Nirvana is the state to achieve to return to from our fallen state. Buddha came back to remind us of our long ago existance and is asking us to return

Capon, I don't think you get it. Buddhists don't worship the Buddha. It doesn't even matter if he existed or not. What is important is the philosophy we call Buddhism. Many Buddhists, such as myself, are atheists. There is no god in Buddhism.
