PS3 HDMI Problem

UPDATE: Issue fixed with recent firmware update.
I've got the PS3 connected (via HDMI) to a Panasonic 42" plasma, model number TH-42PX500 (Japanese TV). The PS3 is set to output to 720p, which my TV can handle.

When I launch a PS3 game, after the "Playstation 3" logo appears, the screen goes black. The game is loading fine, I just cant see it.

The only way I can regain control of my TV at this point is to tune into the regular TV channels using my TV remote. Only then I can use the input selection button to get back to HDMI. Once I do this, I can see and play the game.

My guess is that the PS3 is sending some kind of signal through the HDMI cable that is making the TV unhappy. The strange thing is, I tried a PS1 game and it worked fine.

@Chattrees i have the same exact problem. i'm playing cod and the screen just goes black, sometimes goes back on but ost of the time i have to fiddle with the plugs or change the channel. really annoying! it also happens with all my other games. if you figure out a way to fix this please help me out

@xandxr3wx you can fix it by throwing your xbox down the stairs and buying a ps3 haha

@CommandingCommando you need to put the hdmi cable back in... go to display settings, put it back to the red yellow and white, then take the hdmi cable back out and put the red yellow and white chords back in. if that doesnt work sorry.

I have a 46" samsung and this never happened to me ever with my PS3 :) even with the first PS3 models. Guess I was lucky.

@sportshobbys740 when your ps3 is off hold down the power button wait until the ps3 turns back off. this should restore the audio and visual problems.

need help....My cousins bought a PS3 and an HDMI cable i dont have one so they let me try it out. It was great but when they left they took the cable with them so i turned off the PS3. The next day I went to turn on the ps3 and everythinh was fine the tv turned on fine I could watch tv the ps3 was turning on fine but when I switched it to the second channel so I could play PS3 the tv didnt show anything, all the cables are fine and connected I just cant see anything on the tv from my ps3... help

can i please have some help..

i play mw3 and, during the game the screen cuts and and i can still hear everything through my headset, but i tinker with the TV (switch channels, all that stuff)

and then i decide to turn it off, the tv doesnt want to turn off or anything so the only way to turn it back on is to take out the power and then put it back in. ive tried different power ports and all..

is it the TV or the ps3? or the HDMI?

My Screen is cut off .. Its like the picture is too big for my Tv screen & will not fit on. The edges of the picture is cut off

@kaiyazu try going into PS3 screen settings and changing the output to hdmi hope I could help :)
