Comparison of a brand new Corsair Memory TX650W PSU (left) and a brand new Antec TruePower New 750W (right). The fan on the brand new Corsair is very noisy - the fan on the brand new Antec is almost inaudible.

The Corsair PSU product description includes this statement ...

"With a large 120mm diameter temperature-controlled fan that is ultra quiet, yet still more than sufficient to cool the internals of the system, reliability and stability are no longer worries for the gamer, overclocker or enthusiast and high-end system builder"

Judge for youself !

The unit was purchased from SCAN Computers UK and they had refused to take the unit back for refund.

After serviing a court claim, SCAN finally refunded all monies paid plus costs incurred.

I will never purchase again from SCAN or indeed any Corsair product ever again.

I pray I have no more dealings with either company.

  • These Corsair PSU-s mostly have ADDA fans, with ball bearings. That's why they are noisy. Mine too. I have an HX 650W. The AX series have Yate Loon fans with fluid bearings so they are not noisy now.

  • That is defently the wheel bearings, just RMA back to corsair

  • btw have you tried to give the fan some oil ?

you can also do the poke test, poke the fan gently! and hear if the sound changes

  • sounds like an old car

  • Having pretty much the same problem (I also made a video), I am assuming corsair cheaped out on the fans because mine worked fine for 3 months and one day started sounding like the shutter on an old projector (or a car idling).

I assume its the bearings in the fan, but who knows...its always had some obnoxious coil whine to it (an unrelated issue) ... they don't make em like they use to.
