Thunder Force IV is one of best shooters on the sega genesis and is pretty much addicting. With it's power ups, killer soundtrack and level design....im excited. Sega of America renamed the game Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar. In Europe the name was left as Thunder Force IV.

don't tell me, I've been practicing for two fucking months and the farthest I could get was Level 7. Then I found out about the 99 lives cheat...
Level 8, 9 and 10 alone took 70 lives from me, I can do fine until I reach level 8...then it's all downhill from here, I struggled like a bitch to finish the game!

Anyone notice that the ships assisting you in Stage-5 are the exact shape ship you used in Thunder Force 3? I really love these kinds of little detais.

Still my fave ever shoot em up. Sweet video. I have this on cart for my Megadrive. Love it to bits.

Best soundtrack I've heard for a Megadrive game. Favourite music would be Deser (the desert level) plus end boss and end-game music! Personally, I only ever got to play the 1st 4 levels plus a bit of level 5. Waaay too hard for me when I played it in 1999, but great to see it being played all the way through.

Oh wow, there are parts of the level off screen? That's definitely helpful in maneuverability.
