It means like basically an unprofessional recording. Bootlegs are recorded usually by not so great recording material by concert goers which is why quality isn't so great.

you know how everyone said that this was the first led zeppelin reunion in 26 years last year. if they would have known anything about led zep they would know that they had already done a reunion concert.

They never actually did an official reunion. they labeled this last one as a reunion cause of Bonham but I never saw it as a reunion. Zeppelin is nothing without Bonzo.

@LinkBulletBill The term bootleg dates back to the prohibition days, when people would sneak alcohol in by strapping flasks to their legs and wearing tall boots to conceal it. Concert bootleggers use the same type of method to sneak in illegal recorders at shows. The thing is, they crank it so loud at their shows it prevents a decent recording from being made. And this, is the result ;)

@feldmannpaul I had read it a few times over the years (various concert/bootleg reviews and bio's like "hammer...". I was able to confirm the stories for myself when I finally heard this concert in full (at least the portion that has been released) in which Plant makes a couple of direct references to the fact that Jones was playing with fractued ribs. One of the very 1st releases of this show on bootleg CD was titled in fact...fractued ribs.

I'm not even sure this is live to be honest - it;s very faithful to the original album version - which is unusual for Zeppelin live. Still brilliant though. Re Bootlegs - illegal recordings - Zeppelin were plagued by them for years - prob cause their live act is so different. They recorded some shows & " leaked" them to ensure the sound quality was at least good. The 'badge holders only' recording at the LA Forum is an example
