This is a live video clip of a Shabad "Gobinday Mukanday" in Rag Bhairvi from "Jaap Sahib" by Bibi Gurdev Kaur from the UK and her companions Bibi Binwant Kaur, Bibi Surjeet Kaur and Bibi Harjeet Kaur at Gurdwara Sukhmani Sahib, Ludhiana on 30 September 2008. Sorry for the audio quality as this is a home recording. The official DVD/CD was released in March 2010. To listen to the full version with subtitels; please visit;vimeo.com/12101711
Bibi Gurdev Kaur OBE sings this Sloke with Sikh Nari Manch Jatha that she started in 1998 durig her Indian tour of 2008 at Gurdwara Sukhmani Sahib, Ludhiana. Her companiaons had never sung a note before and she trained them herself. The group performs many bilingual Shabads like this Sloke at interfaith events and and has performed in the past at many prestigious venues and events such as "Royal Albert Hall", "Symphony Hall", Guild Hall" "Sacred Voices Festival", "Rejoice Concert", "Coral Fusion" and many more. Non-Sikhs enjoy listening to her compositions very much and join in singing with the group as leaflets with words are generally provided. The Sloke is sung in a melodious tune like a chant first; then the meaning of the Sloke are sung on the same tune; some wonderful improvisations / parmaans from the scriptures of the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, add a wonderful touch to the composition. The listeners can follow the Shabad and sing along with it as the subtitles in Punjabi and English are also provided in this video clip. In 2006 Sikh Nari Manch was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Award for Voluntary Service for its work with the community at large. Sikh Nari Manch is a Registered Charity and runs "Northside Welcome Centre" in Erdington, in the north of Birmingham where everyone is welcomed in the spirit of Sikhism; Sarbatt da Bhalla.
