I dont think we can realy compare a Large African Lion to a Large Siberian Tiger ,Siberians are used to a harder life and this makes them more prepared for any situation.

@InnocenceExperience
Not to mention that some argue that Siberian tigers arent' bigger than Bengal tigers:
Dale Miquelle, program director of the Siberian Tiger Project, writes that, despite repeated claims in the popular literature that the Siberian is the largest of all tigers, their measurements on more than fifty captured individuals suggest that it body size is, in fact, similar to that of Bengal tigers

@InnocenceExperience
The siberian tiger is somewhat bigger than the bengal tiger but the average size of the Siberian tiger is about the same as the average male lion:
From wikipedia:
According to modern research of wild Siberian tigers in Sikhote-Alin, an average adult male tiger (>35 months) weighs 176.4 kg (389 lb)

animals that take longer to become independent from their parents are usually more intelligent. Humans take the longest. Its because more intelligent animals have more to learn rather than just living by instinct.

I've heard from a scientist that normally social animals are more intelligent. Plus humans evolved on the plains of Africa.

okay Prater was born in 1890 but did he even go to Africa? the idea that tigers are more cunning sounds like a stereotype to me.

being more obedient doesn't necessarily mean that lions are less intelligent. They live in social groups, unlike tigers, so they might just be more inclined to bond with humans and like our company more. Being social also means they have a better understanding of dominance/hierarchy so they might accept a human telling them what to do more if they see him as a parent or leader.

plus the reaction of one lion and one tiger in one situation obviously proves nothing.
