This is a reading exercise, for all of you that have watched my previous videos. I hope that now you are kind of ready to read a Greek text, as if you were a real Greek person.
In addition you can learn some everyday phrases that we use in Greece.
Enjoy!

  • why is it that most of the vowels (single and combined) sound the same?

how do you know which to use, specifically omega/omicron?

  • Well, that's the big trick! In ancient Greek each of these letters or combinations, had a specific accent or reason of existence. Now you just have to remember which goes where. Especially for ω , it's very helpfull to know that is is always used as the last letter in verbs, πχ πηγαίνω, έχω, δίνω κλπ. Never "ο" there.

  • Greek is the most beautiful language !!!!!

  • Very well done video. I never imagined greek pronunciation was so easy for spanish speakers as myself.

One thing I can not fully grasp yet is the difference between the gamma sound and double gamma/gamma kappa sound. I know the latter is like the Spanish "g" but i'm not sure if I'm prononcing the single gamma right.

Also, I noticed sometimes the single gamma sounds like in an english "g" as in "george" Thanks for the video! :)

You should find it easy the sounds are basically the same.

Most spanish people I've met that speek greek have a very subtle accent.

γγ and γκ is the sound of g in (G)recia

γ on its own is sth between y in (y)o and the second g in grie(g)o.

it never is g as in george. you get g when you put τ and ζ next to each other, not a very common sound in greek.

  • @kouklasou81 i am from greece this is how we talk everyday this is our accent

  • @ArkimeTyhaen107 i agree with lina. you just learn how to write each word...

  • My brother's best friend's name is George. =D

By the way...it's my last day of school tomorrow.....who thinks I should only speak Greek all day?

  • Could you please increase the volume for your lessons, thank you

  • I'm from Brazil and I really wanna learn greek. It sounds cool :P

  • Great voice and accent. Very clear.

  • In future videos, it would be helpful if you said it at normal speed first and then slowed it way down the 2nd time. Thanks!

  • Can't believe I pronounced it al correctly O_O" ^W^
