Old Spa Francorchamps track as used from 1922 till 1970. Filmed bewtween connections with new track..

Its pretty hard to find race footage of the old track, especially from Combes, Burnenville, Malmédy , Stavelot and te entire climb back up to La Source.

Hi. just after the left bend at Malmedy is a section of dirt road that goes straight on. This was used as a sort of chicane to slow cars in 1970, before they hit the Masta straight. You possibly know this, but just thought I'd mention it. Great vid, thanks for posting

I did not know that! I know of various configurations, but that one I never had heard of, thanks a lot.

It's still hard to find old track onboard footage, guess because the filming technology wasn't advanced enough before '70.

btw, I have uploaded part 1 and 2 as 1 movie now.

@vevevo Hi. there are photos of the chicane at LAT Photographic Digital Archive. Youtube won't let me copy the link, so you'll have to rely on these instructions. Type in "Belgian" & "1970" into the search box on the home page to bring them up. There are about five pages of shots, including some fascinating ariel shots of the circuit that give a better idea than any map of how it winds it's way throught the countryside, as well as photos of cars entering the chicane (or diversion? ;D )
