If you see/hear this as a cold, calculating attempt to meld Oasis and Blur and re-evoke an era, it works well. I doubt these guys have anything deeply personally invested in the music style or 'scene' they're pastiching (you can tell from interviews that they're fairly middle-class and culturally sussed, and also from listening to the quite different music they made before and after this), but as an exercise in trying to ape the Britpop/lad thing and sum up its essence, this is exemplary.

people saying they were a good band....that's your opinions. I admit that when I first saw them in the NME (yes, I do read the thing), I was hopeful of another Oasis. But, to be honest, they had a big gob on them even before releasing any songs, and that's why people began hating them. Had the released a few great tracks and then started making headlines, then we may have had something. In the end, they were a band of mouthy guys with little talent
