SUGAR ( founded by Ex Husker Du Guitarist and Vocalist Bob Mould , with David Barbe on Bass and Malcolm Travis on Drums ) were the Shooting Stars of Indie Rock in the Nineties. Their Album " Copper Blue" is the epicentre of powerful , melodic and Guitar driven alternative Music...this is a live version of one of the Album-Highlights: "Hoover Dam"
and here are the Lyrics:

Standing on the edge
Of the Hoover Dam
I'm on the centerline
Right between two states of mind
And if the wind from the traffic
Should blow me away

From this altitude
It will come back to you
And do you know the time
All that's left of me is slight insanity
What's on the right I don't know

If the Mississippi should wash me away
Down to New Orleans
Maybe someday in my dreams
I'd wake feeling the sweat
From the gulf in my mouth

On a carousel I can never tell
My direction home
Spinning down a hole
I'm losing all control
I'm down to the center of the earth

Covered up with lava and I feel fine
It washes over me
Keeps me feeling warm at night
And if you've made a deal with
The guy with the horns and the cape
I'll see you later later

Standing on the edge
Of the Hoover Dam
Standing on the edge
Of the Hoover Dam I am

  • Haven't heard this song for twenty years; it's still great.

  • One of my biggest dreams in rock: to see Bob Mould live.

  • @Loewe68 I saw Husker Du at Batschkapp in '86 or '87. It was going go be one of the five best shows I've ever seen until some moron threw a bottle on the stage and Bob got pissed

  • @Loewe68 Yeah, I remember that concert in the Batschkapp. I did an interview with Bob before and first thing he asked was, if I had my earplugs ready for tonight. Unbelievably loud....!

  • The Metro is like Bob Moulds hang out LOL... how many times did he play there, he played another place in Chicago like clockwork every 8 months or so... not knocking him here, it really sharpened him up -- he was already unstopable with Husker Du, but constant gigging has helped him become something amazing and unduplicatable. Robyn Hitchcock did the same type of gigging in NYC and became musically stronger

  • This album changed my outlook on music. Sugar was a great band, one that I still listen to regularly

  • Saw them two times in Berlin. Men, they were loud! And good.

  • the one thing that´s missing on the planet is a dvd of a live sugar set. i´d pay a lot of money for something like that...

  • @Loewe68 Saw them in ATL.. The same result. Couldn't hear fro days afterwards... But I had a complete smile on my face for weeks and months afterward...

  • @eIectricbIue bob has almost never stuck to the album version on any songs when I've seen him in concert .... and I've seen him probably more than 10 times going back to Workbook.
