This is my reed switch pulse driver "Turner" shown driving several types of magnet tops. The Saturn Magnet is shown driving " Maggie" my little remote generator. Two other "tops" are shown being run at high RPM with just the reed switch turning the drive coil on and off at a high rate. A small radio is used to be able to hear the speed.

  • i have the ability to tell if 2 notes are the same, with audacity i made a 500hz sawtooth wave and it matches precisely. it could be going 30,000 rpm if it is turning 500 times a second.

  • rroge5---WOW!! Thanks. That is fast. Some of my high speed ball magnet spinners sounded much faster than this one. You might listen to one of my earlier videos and see how fast they were turning. There were scary fast and very noisy.

  • also what is the litlle magnet on turners box for ?

  • blulander----The little magnet is a tuning magnet. Once you find a place on the motor where the spinning rotor magnet will turn the reed switch on and off, then you fine tune it with the little magnet. Once you find the right position you crazy glue the little magnet in place. It takes time and you have to trial and error it.

  • could you post a circuit diagram please Lid

  • blulander----The circuit is posted a few videos back on the "Mechanical Joule Thief Charger" video. It is just a battery, a coil of wire, and a magnetically activated reed switch. Super simple.

  • Very, very Interesting!

  • Excellent demonstration of the reed switches fast switching capability!

  • Hi lid I have a question for you or anyone else that may be able to answer it, when a sphere magnet with the poles to each side as you use in your experiments passes a coil and creates a magnetic field and a current what pole does the magnet induce in the part of the coil adjacent to it in relation to which pole of the magnet is passing the coil at that moment , I hope I have phrased that in such a way as people can understand.

    Kind Regards

    Nik

  • i might be 20 hz inaccurate tho. which one?
