A roughly 200 degree field of view of the full flight of the Armadillo Aerospace rocket Stiga, from straight down on the left edge to straight up near the right edge.

The video shows the full ascent and descent. The descent and landing was a bit off nominal; the drogue ballute failed to inflate fully and ended up shredding, which led to the main opening at a higher velocity than desired and breaking some lines.

After repairing some stripped screws and dented parts, the 32 foot tall rocket shall fly again.

Video shot and painstakingly smushed together by Ben Brockert.

  • Can you please tell why did you go for ram air parachute? It doesn't look like an optimal solution, number one it has a better chance of failing (like it partially did), and it has a pretty good glide ratio and from this altitude it would have probably glided like 20km. Thanks.

  • @MrTomasD There's a robot inside to fly it back to the launch site. It didn't work this time, but it's been demonstrated repeatedly in air drops of materiel.

  • --cheme?

  • What role will this rocket play in the final launch s

  • Why is the rocket spinning on the way up? It looks as if it is out of control.

  • Hey guys! Well done job. Very special and good quality video. Congratulations for the success of the first Stiga mission. Always fingers crossed for the next missions what will come up.

  • @MrTomasD The ram air parachute is part of a system that will fly it back to the landing zone. It has it's own guidance system that activates when the chute is deployed. The system is made by Wamore Inc. They have been doing this for a while for the military. Typically they get within less than 100 meters from the intended landing point. Of course with the partial malfunction, we did not get to see it work properly this time.

  • Too dreadfulness!

  • @marcinovski You sir are a saint.

  • There's an awful lot of negative space in this video and the noise is atrocious. Maybe next time figure out a better way to crop the footage and edit the audio.

  • THANK GOD I was watching porn before i clicked this video.....
