READ FOR INFO. Cracking the "very hard" locks in Fort Constantine, made a little vid about that.

Lockpicking is really only about one thing: Tap the key to the screwdriver very very gently. I know I say in the movie to listen for the "tink" sound, but that's actually not quite right: You gotta tap and release, THEN listen for the "tink". If you press and hold and wait for the tink, then you break the bobby pin.

Now, if you tapped and released and heard a tink, move the bobby pin. If you didn't hear a tink, tap and hold a bit longer. Increase the time you hold the screwdriver key as long as you dont hear the tinking sound.

With "easy" locks, you can move the bobby pin a long way each time and still get it right. As difficulty goes up, the "margin of error" on the sweet spot decreases, and you have to move the pin less each time. On the very hard lock, we are talking about millimeters.

So good luck, and remember: Tapping is the secret.

  • This is on PC which has more accurate controls than consoles....think Fallout gives us console guys an "aim assist" for this? I hope so....

  • @NintendoMaster098 Perhaps you have more stable free hand aim. As you can see in my LP, outside VATS I can barely hit things, and without VATS, the game would be almost unplayable.

  • do you think its better to raise science or lock picking?

  • @chaosen5waffles I usually go with LP, since they are interchangeable most of the times, and some of the times LP is more important.

  • 2:40 thats waht she said

  • @big6775 "as you see, i'm pretty close here"?

  • @Kyle82894 Well, if we could wish anything from this game, I think I would wish for the Save and Reload feature for myself.. I can think of many, many occasions where that would come in handy.

  • Pro tip guys...If you get two fails on the lock pick your bobby pin will break. To avoid this after the second attempt fails simply press the "E" key to back out of the lock picking screen. Start over and continue trying in this way until you pick the lock. It will save you hundreds of broken bobby pins...Its the same basic principle when trying to crack a computer console..If you fail 3 out of the 4 tries back out of that screen then reenter with fresh tries.

  • I broke the med safe ._. dunno how this works :C

  • @NintendoMaster098 PC handling is actually horrible for lock picking. When you go way to the sides, the controls get very bad, as in the screwdriver doesn't move like you do with your mouse. (can't rly describe that atm) I prefer the console controls for lockpicking, in both accuracy and overall handling.

  • @TheLiquidPepper But then again some good perks require a decent science score.

  • i need to no where to buy bobby pins for lock picking.

  • skyrim lockpicking will be like this

  • @NintendoMaster098 I have played with both the console version of Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 for the PC. As far as I can tell, there is little difference besides that you can mod the PC version of the game.

  • @TheLiquidPepper Yeah you can shoot things outside of Vats pretty easy. VATS "runs out" though in battle sometimes so you are forced to free hand. We get an aiming reticule, not sure about PC guys.
