Billy really needs some QUALITY live material. I've seen him twice and he is amazing. But I have not seen or heard anything on tape that shows his chops. He is extremely underated.

Don't Say Know is a BRILLIANT ALBUM! One of those albums where EVERY song can stand on it's own. Truly a classic & unsung gem

his voice is smooth n polished for nearly 60.His years out of music preserved his vocal cords. You got Steven Tyler falling off the stage & eddie VH with hip replacements at Billys age. you dont see thoe issues at a Squier show. Seen 2009 tour 5 times & was great at all 5

there's nothing wrong with his voice douche-bag.....pretty damn good for 55+ years old numb-nuts(iceaxe56)

just noticing he is hitting guitar licks instead of singing the high notes--frankie vali uses a girl in his group now-- its hell getting old

ah the children who are jealiuos they didn't get to grow up listening to REAL music, what a shame. boo hoo hoo.

One of the greatest most underrated singers and songwriters the earth has ever produced. I've always loved this song but it never drew too much attention - though it's loaded with magic.

@wretchedvonkrank ....Man good to hear there are more PIPER fans than just me left in this world...Yeah we were into Billy before MTV even knew his name...I got the first LP brand new when it hit the racks...Same for the second.....Drove up to Little Rock from La. to see, get this lineup....Piper (opened), BOC and the headliner was RUSH....great concert and Billy blew some smoke back n the day....Take care...Thankful that I was born in '57, and started buying Rock n Roll Vinyl in '69!!!
He voice actually sounded amazingly great! I was very surprised how well it's held up. He was actually 60 yrs. old when I recorded this!

what happened to his voice?

@iceaxe56 Actually amazingly his voice sounds as good as ever. The guy is 60 yrs. old and most artists that used to sound good can't even sing by the time they're 60. He's voice still sounds very much the same as his younger days and still very strong! This was recorded with a small little still camera with tiny mic.... go see him, you'll be amazed!

@wretchedvonkrank Thanks for the history-never heard of him before, well, Billy Squier. I'll check it out. Yeah he kept it real thru all the glitz, glam and gluttony. He was also keen on keeping his guitar gear retro long before it became revamped to save the dying guitar industry. I often put his tunes on whatever jukebox is near me and he's def. one of my fav rock-n-rollers. The man should be inducted for many reasons but as you can see his sincerity-still rocking! Thx.

@bugietube I'd be curious to hear your take on the Piper music if you get it. I was a Junior/Senior in HS playing those albums about 10 times a day! haaa, so I'm a bit subjective on my opinion. I think both of the Piper albums are GREAT all the way through. If you listen close you can hear multiple guitar parts going and all Stellar work. I'm still hoping for a Piper reunion tour from him That would ROCK! best part is he can still sing!

But even in his SNL '84 vid maybe he was just too autonomous and needed a kick in the ass because he just seems so complacent. His studio vocal range would be difficult to replicate night after night and of course, with age-to be fair. But his recorded stuff just seemed so out of left field as far as the pop-culture scene-defying the industry trends of the 80's back then but the more I heard the more I liked and respect him as the great individualistic rock/pop songwriter-performer that he is.

@bugietube The PRIME Billy was his days with the band Piper (before he went solo). Piper had 2 albums that were just smokin hot rock, with 3 guitarist (including himself). I saw Piper live 2 times and they were FULL of energy! I'm thinking Billy expended all his energy in those concerts hahaha. I love his stuff though, but you just can't beat the 2 Piper albums. They combined them to one CD, and I would highly suggest you pick it up!
